Conditions of booking
Terms & Conditions
The English Drawing Room is arranged and hosted personally, and these terms set out plainly how bookings, deposits and refunds work, and what is included in the journey. Please read them before booking; we are always happy to answer any question by email at enquiries@englishdrawingroom.com or on +44 7967 822647.
The Journey and Its Price
The English Drawing Room is a private six-day journey through Wiltshire, England, running from 20 June to 25 June 2027. It is arranged and hosted personally, with a small party of guests staying at Teffont House, Teffont Evias.
The journey is priced per guest, with a reduced rate for couples and friends sharing a room. Prices are provided on application, so that each party may be quoted according to its size and room requirements. Please write to enquiries@englishdrawingroom.com or telephone +44 7967 822647 for a quotation.
A quotation is held for fourteen days. After that, places are offered again in order of enquiry.
Booking and Deposit
A place is reserved when we have received a completed booking and a deposit of fifty per cent of the journey price per guest.
The remaining balance is due sixty days before the journey begins, which is 21 April 2027. We shall write to you beforehand with a reminder and payment details.
For bookings made within sixty days of departure, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.
Payment may be made by bank transfer or card. Details accompany your booking confirmation.
Cancellations and Refunds
If you need to cancel, please write to us as soon as possible, by email to enquiries@englishdrawingroom.com. The date we receive your written cancellation is the date used for the terms below.
The deposit is non-refundable, as houses, guides and tables are reserved and paid for on your behalf at the time of booking.
For cancellations received more than ninety days before departure, that is on or before 21 March 2027, any balance already paid is refunded in full.
For cancellations received within ninety days of departure, the deposit and balance are non-refundable. This is why travel insurance, described below, is a condition of booking.
Should you be unable to travel, you are welcome to pass your place to another guest, with our agreement, provided their details reach us before the journey begins.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is required of every guest and is a condition of booking.
Your policy must include cover for cancellation, curtailment, medical treatment and repatriation. We strongly recommend a policy that also covers the pre-departure failure of transport providers.
Please arrange insurance at the time of booking, so that the deposit is protected from the outset. We may ask for confirmation of your policy before departure.
The English Drawing Room does not sell or advise on insurance. Guests are responsible for choosing a policy suited to their circumstances.
What Is Included

Anything not described in the itinerary.
Changes to the Itinerary
The houses, gardens and occasions on this journey are opened to us by families and organisations in their homes and workplaces. On rare occasions a visit must be adjusted at short notice.
Where this happens, we shall arrange the nearest comparable alternative, and we shall always tell you promptly. Where a difference in value arises, it will be returned to you.
Guest Responsibilities
Guests are responsible for holding a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel, and for meeting the United Kingdom's entry requirements. Guests from the United States currently require an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travelling; please arrange this in good time.
A degree of walking is involved each day, including gardens and historic floors over uneven ground. Please tell us of any mobility, dietary or medical needs when you book, and we shall make sensible arrangements wherever we can.
Guests are asked to treat the houses, gardens and belongings of our hosts with the care and courtesy such places deserve.
Our Responsibility
We take every care in arranging the journey and choose our houses, guides, drivers and hosts with great attention. Should anything fall short, please tell us at once so that it can be put right during the journey itself.
Our liability is limited to the price each guest has paid for the journey. We are not responsible for the acts of airlines, railways or other transport providers, for events beyond our reasonable control, or for losses arising from guests' own actions.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If Events Prevent the Journey
If circumstances entirely beyond our control, such as severe weather or a national emergency, prevent the journey from going ahead, we shall first try to move the journey to new dates. If that is not possible, all payments except the deposit will be refunded.
Your Details
Details you share with us are used only to arrange your journey, to communicate with you about it, and, with your consent, to write to you about future departures. They are never sold or shared for marketing by others.
You may ask at any time to see, correct or delete the details we hold.
The Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
This is a condition of booking: by returning a booking and deposit, guests accept these terms in full.
